Check that your footwear fits without stretching the bag, then gently close the drawstring. Pack the bags around larger luggage items, keeping footwear grouped rather than loose among your clothes.
Make a system that works at home and away
Allocate bags by traveller or by type of footwear. Use them at home between trips for tidier cupboard storage. This is a soft storage pouch, not a rigid case or a sealed barrier for wet or muddy shoes.
